I’m always looking for things to do that involve food! And even better is when the events are kid-friendly. Here are 10 Boston food festivals worth checking out this summer — all involve delicious eats!
Jimmy Fund Scooper Bowl
June 4-6
City Hall Plaza, Boston
Who doesn’t love all-you-can-eat ice cream?! It’s back in Boston this year! In addition to ice cream from all your favorite companies, the Scooper Bowl also promises entertainment and games, all to benefit the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
St. Athanasius Greek Food Festival
June 6-9
4 Appleton Street, Arlington
You don’t have to be Greek to love this festival for its music, dancing, and authentic Greek food! This festival is held every year under a tent, rain or shine. I usually end up taking home extra food because the moussaka and pastichio freeze well. I also love the fried-dough-type dessert called loukoumades! Kids will love the Greek fries topped with feta.
Strawberry Festival
June 15
Verrill Farm, 11 Wheeler Road, Concord
Join in on the strawberry-season fun, including Verrill Farm’s famous strawberry shortcake, hayrides, live music, food trucks, a craft tent, and photo ops. Kids under 5 are free, but get your tickets in advance!
Boston Pizza Festival
June 22-23
City Hall Plaza, Boston
At this festival, you’ll enjoy all-you-can-eat pizza, entertainment, games, and more!
Boston Jerkfest
July 12-13
Harvard Athletic Complex, 145 North Harvard Street, Boston
Look for spicy (and non-spicy!) food, chef demos, live music, and plenty of kids activities, like face painting, storytelling, and arts and crafts.
Cape Cod Food Truck Festival
August 10
Cape Cod Fairgrounds, 1220 Nathan Ellis Highway, East Falmouth
This festival will have more than 30 different food trucks, enticing you with everything from lobster to pizza to poke to BBQ!
Chinatown August Moon Festival
August 11
Chinatown, Boston
This day-long event is filled with cultural performances, arts and crafts, and, of course, yummy Chinese food!
113th Annual Fisherman’s Feast
August 15-18
North End
One of the largest of the North End summer feasts, this event definitely has something for everyone. Highlights include live music, food demos and competitions, Italian souvenirs, and plenty of pizza and cannolis!
Boston Local Food Festival
September 15
Rose Kennedy Greenway
This festival includes food trucks, cuisines of all kinds, chef demonstrations, and a family fun zone. All fresh and all local! It’s a delicious end-of-summer event to add to your calendar.
