The Polar Express may be a make-believe story, but a holiday train ride can be your family’s reality! The Greater Boston area has many holiday train experiences that will bring the magic of the Polar Express right to your train car!

The Polar Express Train Ride

Hop aboard the Polar Express! The conductor will punch golden tickets for each child as dancing waiters perform to Christmas carols. Families will love listening to a reading of the classic children’s story “The Polar Express,” by Chris Van Allsburg, as they make their journey to meet Santa!

Edaville offers a variety of ways to meet Santa! On the North Pole Limited, guests journey to the North Pole behind a vintage steam train to meet Santa and see thousands of Christmas lights. Hot chocolate and cookies will be served while Santa’s elves make this a memorable trip for the whole family and prove to everyone that there really is a Santa Claus! Upon arrival at the North Pole, Santa will board the train and greet each child with a special gift. On Santa’s VIP Express, guests are welcome to arrive before the park opens for the day to catch their train. Mr. and Mrs. Claus will join guests on our journey.

This train to the North Pole is one only the White Mountains of New Hampshire can provide! The two-hour trip brings you to Santa’s Workshop by way of the North Pole Post Office, where you can leave your letters for Santa! Once you arrive at Santa’s Workshop, you’ll sit with your family and friends and be entertained by the elves, hear a dramatic reading of “The Night Before Christmas,” engage in some elf sing-alongs, and be welcomed by Santa himself!

The Wakefield Music Boosters (WMB) host a fun-filled 70-minute train ride with Santa and his elves. The WMB Jolly Jingle Express will leave from Anderson Station in Woburn on an express route to the North Pole! During the ride, the special storytellers will perform “The Night Before Christmas,” and music and drama students and alumni will entertain you with song and dance, a chocolate chip cookie, and chocolate milk. Children will receive a special silver jingle bell from Santa and the elves at the end of the trip!

Hop aboard this 90-minute train ride filled with singing, games, a reading of the classic children’s story “The Polar Express,” and a visit from Santa! The conductor will be there to punch your special golden ticket, and you’ll enjoy hot chocolate and a cookie during your trip. Plus, every child will receive a silver bell — the first gift of Christmas!
