Sometimes, putting dinner on the table is the hardest part of the day. Sometimes, mom needs a break! For those days when you want to serve your family a home-cooked meal but need a little help, these tried-and-true meal delivery services are for you — and many of them are Boston local!

Clover Food Lab

A beloved kitchen in Cambridge prepares these boxes and delivers to your doorstep. Using fresh New England ingredients, Clover will do the chopping, seasoning, and assembling of flavorful and creative meals. All you need is five minutes of prep for a home-cooked meal! Each week, the menu is posted so you can choose what you’d like. The boxes can be a weekly subscription, a one-time order, or a celebration box that will cater to your holiday needs.

Food and Figure

If healthy living is your priority, Food and Figure is one to try for home-cooked meal delivery — or you can pick up at their Boston location. This company caters to those wanting nutrition facts provided with each dish. Each week they offer breakfast, main meals, no-starch meals, chef’s specials, items by the pound, and soups to choose from. They also offer high-quality catering options for those occasions when you’re planning an event but won’t have time to cook!

Thrive Juice Cafe

Thrive started as a juice and smoothie bowl cafe and has morphed into a food delivery service, delivering delicious vegetarian meals right to your door every Tuesday. You can order from their weekly menu of breakfast, lunch, snacks, or bulk items. If you are in the East Arlington area you can pick up from their store, or get your order in on Sunday for a Tuesday delivery to Arlington, Belmont, Cambridge, Lexington, Medford, Somerville, Wilmington, Woburn, Burlington, Reading, and Winchester.

Feast and Fettle

A Boston Moms favorite, Feast and Fettle delivers the tastiest prepared meals right to your door. Once you become a member — free of charge — you choose from a long list of meals to enjoy. They have plenty to choose from, whether you are treating yourself and your spouse to a date night meal once the kids are in bed or eating a weeknight dinner with the whole family. Feast and Fettle caters to your needs!

Shef

Shef.com allows home chefs to prepare and sell meals from their own kitchens — a novel type of meal delivery service in Boston and surrounding towns! Simply enter your zip code into the website, and a list of local chefs pops up! Once you click on a chef’s profile, you can view their meals, prices, and delivery times. Kind of like a dating app, but for dinner! The food highlighted on their website is mostly Indian, and over 85% of their chefs are women. This is definitely a must-try when you’re just not sure what’s for dinner this week!

Hungry Root

Hungry Root has it all — ready-to-eat meals, recipes, shakes, and smoothies. No grocery shopping, no meal planning, and it can cater to your whole family. By filling out a quick survey, you can clarify your preferences — vegetarian, pescatarian, gluten allergy, and more. There are more than 300 kid-friendly meals to enjoy! This service creates a meal plan that caters to your needs.

Khipi

Khipi is a unique, non-subscription meal service that allows you to “travel the world through your plate.” On Thursdays, they send out a text message with a link to their menu, featuring two authentic meals from two different countries for you to choose from. Many of their recipes are sourced directly from local individuals from those countries. Meals are delivered on Tuesdays along with reheating instructions. They even recycle the delivery bags — just leave them out on Tuesday morning and they’ll be picked during delivery.

Molly’s Dinner Club

Molly’s Dinner Club is a local food delivery service based out of Arlington that delivers to Arlington, Winchester, Belmont, Somerville, Medford, Watertown, and parts of Cambridge. The owner, Molly, lives in Arlington with her husband and two young children. She has a master’s degree in gastronomy in culinary arts from Boston University and has always had a passion for food and entertaining. Each Wednesday, a menu is emailed out with a list of items for you to choose from. Orders for the following week are due by the end of the day Friday. You can order as much or as little as you want, and the following Tuesday morning, your meals will be delivered to your door!

Georgie and Tom have worked together to make high-quality, fully prepared meals for more than 10 years. Their passion for food prompted them to start Georgie & Tom’s in 2020. They provide fully prepared, restaurant-quality meals for two that cook in 5-8 minutes. You can order more than one kit based on the size of your family. Dozens of meal options are made fresh and always available. You can personalize your menu for cooking method, portion sizes, calories, sodium, diet types, and allergens. You only pay for what you get and can easily skip or pause until two days before delivery.

If you have a little more time and don’t mind some prep or cooking, try these food delivery services that help with the planning and recipes!

Marley Spoon

Hello Fresh

From what started as delivering meals to 10 people in their community, Hello Fresh has become one of the leading meal services, delivering meals to homes in 18 countries! Al FreshCo

Al FreshCo’s mission is to build a more resilient food system by making locally grown food easy to cook and eat. Their meal kits are vegan, loaded with vegetables grown 100% by farmers in New England, and are delivered by bike in minimal packaging. Simply order by midnight on Saturday for delivery the following Tuesday. They believe in leaving the world a better place, and this core principle finds its way into all aspects of the business, from sourcing to packaging choices. Each kit feeds two adults, so pricing depends on the size of your family. You can sign up for weekly delivery or make it a one-time order.

Imperfect Foods has a long list of prepared meals, snacks, and desserts you can have delivered right to your door.

Krystal Avila

Krystal is a Massachusetts native who grew up in the 'burbs and is now loving the city life in Roslindale with her husband and 3 boys (9, 6, and 1). She and her husband met downtown working at a restaurant together, and since then their love of restaurants has kept their date nights exciting as they try out the latest places. Learning Spanish has been something Krystal has loved ever since middle school, and that has become her passion as a Spanish teacher, wife to a Salvadoran, and mother raising her children bilingual.
Loves: family, friends, playing with her kids, a comfy hoodie on the beach when the sun goes down, nachos, baking, Christmas movies.
Not so much: loud music, putting away laundry, terrible threes, and black pepper.
