There are so many things to look forward to each Thanksgiving! Time with family and friends. The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. The meal with those delicious dishes you may only partake of once a year. And oh, the pies — from pumpkin to sweet potato to pecan.

But my Thanksgiving favorite? I can’t wait to run! Yes, I love to start my Thanksgiving Day with a good ol’ Boston turkey trot.

A turkey trot is super family friendly, with plenty of jogging strollers, kid-focused “fun runs” as part of the race festivities, and families of all sizes who walk the entire race with their turkey hats on. What could be better than joining a crowd of people who are crazy enough to enjoy sprinting in the cold air of late November?

If you’re like me and need your turkey trot fix, here’s a list of races happening in the Boston area this year. All races are scheduled for the morning of Thursday, November 28, except where noted. Happy turkey trotting!
