Hispanic Heritage Month brings an amazing array of events to celebrate and pay tribute to the generations of Hispanic Americans who have positively influenced and enriched our nation and society. The celebrations begin on September 15 and run through October 15! Here is our roundup of Hispanic Heritage Month events in Greater Boston!

Fiesta en la Plaza — Fiesta Welcome

September 15 from 12-7 p.m.
City Hall Plaza, Boston

Celebrate Latinx culture at City Hall Plaza with performances from award-winning
musicians like Edmar Colón and the Fabiola Méndez Trio. The event also features
salsa classes, theater performances, and more throughout the month.

Bilingual Storytime

September 16 through October 2
Various branches of the BPL

Head to the library for bilingual storytime! South Boston, Faneuil, Adams Street, Fields Corner, West End, South End, Mattapan, and Hyde Park branches will host Laura Macias as she tells amusing folktales from around the world and retells stories from beloved children’s books (Spanish and English). This program is intended for children ages 3-5.

Hispanic Heritage Month Viewing of “Coco”

September 18 from 2-4 p.m.
Natick

In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, the Morse Institute Children’s Library is presenting the Disney Pixar film “Coco”!

Sol y Canto Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month

September 19 at 6:30 p.m.
Harvard

Join Fruitlands and Latin-Folk ensemble Sol y Canto as they celebrate 30 years of the band with a special full-band performance under the Fruitlands event tent. Founded in 1994, Sol y Canto is the Boston Music Award-winning jazz-tinged Latin folk music ensemble led by Puerto Rican/Argentine singer and percussionist Rosi Amador and New Mexican guitarist and composer Brian Amador.

El Mundo Hispanic Heritage Breakfast

September 20 from 7-9:30 a.m.
Boston

Join representatives from some of Boston’s most prestigious corporate and public institutions as they share their lighthearted — and often hilarious — commentary on the Latino community, their contributions to the city and state, and their many lovable quirks.  The awards presentation will recognize individuals who make the area’s Latino community truly special.

Boston Red Sox Hispanic Celebration

September 20 at 7 p.m.
Fenway Park, Boston

Fenway Park will host a celebration of Hispanic heritage, featuring live music and cultural festivities during the Red Sox game against the Minnesota Twins. Ticket holders who purchase here will receive a Medias Rojas replica jersey!

The Legend of the Inca’s Empire Origin/La Leyenda del Origen del Imperio Inca

September 21 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Charlestown

At this National Hispanic Heritage Month event, learn the beautiful legend about the origin and the foundation of the city of Cusco that became the historic capital of the Inca Empire. The story has been told through generations in Peru. This bilingual program in English and Spanish is designed for school-aged children — ages 5-12 — though younger siblings can join.

Latinx Heritage Night at the MFA

September 21 from 5-10 p.m.
Boston

Join the Museum of Fine Arts for a night celebrating Latinx artists. The event includes gallery talks, art-making activities, live, music, dance performances, and a Latin-inspired menu. Admission starts at a pay-what-you-can fee of $5 after 5 p.m.

CineFest Latino Boston

September 25-29
Boston and Brookline

Enjoy films from Mexico, Colombia, and Brazil at various theaters around Boston. This annual film festival highlights stories by and about Latinos and is committed to using the power of film to break stereotypes, bring cultures and communities together, and reveal the complex issues affecting Latinx communities. There will also be a Q&A session with actor Isel Rodriguez.

Latinísimo!

September 26 from 6-8 p.m.
Cambridge

Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with “Latinísimo,” a concert highlighting the substantial musical heritage of the Spanish-speaking world. Look forward to the countless musical contributions of Hispanic and Latino composers in opera, art song, folk music, and more. This special and rare program offers a unique opportunity to experience the rich and vibrant contributions of Latin American composers to the classical music landscape.

Hispanic Heritage Molas Art/Herencia Hispana Molas Art

September 28 at 3:30 p.m.
Framingham

Come create your own mola — a handmade textile art form from Panama and Colombia. This activity is best for children ages 5 and up.

Boston Hispanic & Latino 5K

September 29 at 9 a.m.
Somerville and Medford

Run or walk in celebration of Latinx heritage at the Boston Hispanic & Latino 5K. This event encourages health and community spirit and aims to create a safe and welcoming space for Hispanic and Latino runners. Funds — and awareness — will go toward local Hispanic and Latino nonprofits.

Celia Cruz: A National Hispanic Heritage Month Event with Rosalba Solis from La Piñata

October 2 from 3:30-4:30 p.m.
West Roxbury branch of the BPL

Children ages 8-11 are invited to come and learn a fun song and join in salsa dancing! Participants will also learn about Celia Cruz, a Cuban singer and one of the most popular Latin artists of the 20th century. This interactive workshop is led by Rosalba Solis, professional teacher, dancer, musician, and founder of La Piñata, a Latin American cultural, performing arts, and community organization.

Hispanic Heritage Local Artist Craft

October 4 from 3:30-5 p.m.
Framingham

Local Peruvian artist Samela St. Pierre will teach children the skill of braiding for this colorful cotton-ball-and-yarn llama craft. This activity is best for grades K-5.
